[Ticket] Seen on Wikileaks ...

The latest salvo Wikileaks
projected on our screens over 250 000 notes
diplomatic State Department
American.

These revelations have sparked an outcry
world government.
It's fashion, the buzz, choose the word you want, but Wikileaks has actually been a small bomb dropped (intentionally?) On the establishment. The world is torn about whether Assange actually makes love to a Swedish woman without a condom.

On the Net, Wikileaks (at least the second salvo of Wikileaks) is perplexing. They ask many questions about the authenticity of the underground movement that aims to disseminate and archive files "Secret." I keep thinking to myself that this is indeed a citizen's movement transparent, can be handled at the notes that filter, but surely not a forger who we would send the wrong notes.

Wikileaks When some people think that suits the system and in particular the West in general, I prefer to think instead that the 1500 cable went out (of about 251,000 in all, we will be happy to discover ...), media who have access to these notes select.

Indeed, one can quite put words to Wikileaks what is already known about Iran and the Gulf region. Or we can make him talk about the transatlantic market and why no French political figures.

Since the "blogosphere" is quite divided on this point, I took upon myself to relate here a few snippets of what I've found through the site http://cablesearch.org / (which allows you to find the cables through keywords) and not to engage our partner blogger and beloved Sammy.

Moscovici and Holland meet the U.S. ambassador

In a document "confidential" dating from June 21, 2006 (at 8:08), the American ambassador (he is Mr. Craig Roberts Stapleton (1) ) in France described his meeting with PS. The title of the note is this: "The socialist leaders about Franco-American relations in France by dirrigée PS: Neither Blair nor Chirac " (2) .

Moscovici and Holland are two
Young Leaders Foundation
Franco-American, they were predisposed to
discuss domestic policy
with the Americans.
In the " Europe", we learn that Moscovici said that "PS administration would be far more pro-Europe President Chirac and Prime Minister de Villepin " [having ass pushed for TCE ...], and he and Holland have agreed to abandon the military sovereignty of France: " [They] see the need to use Europe to consolidate the defense industry and reduce costs through economies of scale. Holland noted sardonically that France was unable to sell his hunters its tanks or someone .
Moscovici also advocates a national parliament stronger when it comes to European affairs complaining that "the presidency concentrates too much power .
Holland is" agree with the agenda established by Chirac and Merkel to put Europe in 2007-2008 feet. "The two leaders agree that" Chirac has more credibility to offer though whether to advance the European project and refuse any two [...] the idea that the rejected constitution can be subject to a second referendum, or worse in their view, been through a parliamentary vote .
And then it's pretty cool, a great lesson in democracy from Pierre Moscovici: " [He] suggested that it might be possible to use the accession of Croatia introduce some institutional reforms that could be approved by the parliaments of member states . "For some, it's called a" dumpling .

Merkel and her love of the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC)

This "secret" document dated January 29, 2008, wrote to the American embassy in Berlin and sent including CIA headquarters in Washington, is a note to explain the situation in Germany (3) . There is so much information, but the part that concerns us is entitled " Economics: Commitment to the TEC .

We learn that " Merkel has a high opinion of the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC) between EU and USA - a centerpiece of his presidency of the European Union in 2007 - whose aim is to réduiire barriers regulatory trade and transatlantic investment. [... It] is concerned that the European Commission and future Presidencies EU (including France) could lose enthusiasm for the project. German officials are also worried that the new U.S. administration could derail what they consider a new instrument of the transatlantic economy very effective [Highly Successful] We should support our continued commitment to the TEC, and encourage the Germans to keep a leading role on this issue. "

Interesting no?

Froman MP's visit to Brussels

Michael Froman (4) a senior MP in the U.S., and this document (5) recounts his visit to Brussels where he met the very high technocratic society, including Barroso (President of the Commission) Hedegaard ( climate), Barnier (Market), De Gucht (Commerce), and of course the chairman, Herman Von Rompuy. They discuss in particular the TEC.

Froman supports with all his interlocutors " the interest of his Administration that the TRC gives real results. We are open to all ideas, he said, We can reform, restructure or even eliminate the TEC, according to what we identify as the best way to arrive at [secure] concrete progress [...] De Gucht sees the TEC as very important, especially in the context of the expansion of the Chinese economy and the significant trade deficit of the U.S. and the EU [... He] also noted that import duties have fallen, and non-tariff barriers will be the next challenge .

Another official said that some Vanheukelen " up Today, the TEC has not been seen as extremely effective, but it is important to better "De Gucht and to recognize that" there are political problems on some non-tariff barriers [what a surprise ...]. It is important that the next meeting of the TEC produces concrete results [...] For that, he added, we must prepare carefully, outside light [out of the spotlight].

Finally
" possible topics could include the TEC Doha, climate, problems related to China / Third World financial regulation .

Interesting : At the end of this paragraph transatlantic, it was reported that Froman was " to agree [...] that the important thing is to ensure that the next meeting will produce significant results to justify the presence officials and stakeholders meet [stakeholders]. " The stakeholders, or stakeholders, Novlang, they are actually lobbyists and pressure groups (see # 9 Transatlantic Chronicle (6) on transatlantic institutions).
