On 20 November 1964 Federal Union Inc. celebrated its 25th anniversary. George V. Allen, the chairman of the executive committee was organized for the occasion a great banquet in the ballroom of the Warwick Hotel in Philadelphia. Nelson A. Rockefeller, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chiffa, and Clarence K. Streit and his wife, Joan, attended. Streit, the "Great Manitou" Federal Union of Inc., had invited the Governor of the State of New York to deliver a speech on the state of transatlantic relations 25 years after the founding of the movement.
By way of introduction, author Union Now held to recall that the idea was shared Transatlanticism atop the American state. It was indeed sent to Governor Rockefeller as follows: "you have differing views with Mr. Nixon - but not on the unification Atlantic. You have different views with former President Kennedy - but not on the unification Atlantic [...]. You sometimes, I think, different views with General Eisenhower - but not on the unification Atlantic [...]. And you have, I understood, opinions different from those of Senator Goldwater - But not on the Atlantic unity ". Regarding this policy, but rather the one-party rule [1] ...
Referring also to the fact that Benjamin Franklin was able to consolidate the thirteen colonies in 35 years, Clarence Streit said it was time to unite the democracies of the North Atlantic, after twenty-five years of activism. Following these considerations on American history, he gave the floor to Nelson Rockefeller.
The Republican governor at first made the following observation: after a half-century chaos, marked by two "great civil war," the West still suffers from its disunity, even as the Eastern bloc is increasingly threatening. However, the increasing interdependence between states no longer isolationism.
The situation is hardly new. Western nations are facing the same problems as the thirteen colonies of old. After the War of Independence against George III and the Treaty of Paris in September 1783, the colonies were sovereign but now divided, plagued by multiple conflicts. On 17 September 1787, despite the currency turmoil, the tariff wars, military hostility between the States - in short, a near civil war - the Federal Constitution of the United States was accepted by the Convention met in Philadelphia. Two years later, after much debate, the American Union was finally beginning to function and prosper, becoming the first world power in the twentieth century.
Rockefeller believes that in the 1960s, the nations of the "free world", particularly members of NATO, through the same difficulties as the Americans in 1787. As fascism and Nazism were eradicated at the end of the war, "the beautiful idea of Europe" finally germinated, as the Atlantic alliance had been created, the national clivaqes have increased. However, the increase in world population, scientific revolutions, social upheavals, the nuclear threat posed by communist world on the "free world" make urgent creation of a federal union between the democracies of the North Atlantic . The speaker criticizes the passage of France's General de Gaulle and argues that Europe must come closer to the United States within the Atlantic alliance.
Western nations, sharing the same worldview, and the state of human nature, must commit to building a unique political structure. What the founding fathers of the American Union have been on a continental scale, the federalists of the twentieth century must do so on an intercontinental scale.
intercontinental federation, built from NATO, would respect the identity peoples and strengthen democratic governance and human dignity. "It would provide a framework for accelerating the movement of goods, money, ideas and solve agricultural problems, that of labor, unemployment, and equal opportunities for ethnic minorities ". It would inspire other nations, particularly those in the eastern bloc, which will find a "haven of peace within the Union" . It would provide a solution to disputes over nuclear weapons. Finally, it would form the political, economic and most powerful military on the planet, and not fear more international communism.
To implement this project Frankenstein, our sorcerer's apprentice of globalism proposes organizing a convention attended by delegates to set a timetable for completing the federal union. Republican Congressman Paul Findley was also an advocate of Transatlanticism. Democratic side, John F. Kennedy, President Johnson, Vice President Humphrey, former Senator Kefauver defended the principles of Union Now. The time of isolationism is gone now.
Rockefeller concludes his lecture by suggesting ways of establishing "union Atlantic within a federal structure" : Based on the EEC to the economy, and NATO for defense and foreign affairs. It is just a suggestion, other combinations are possible. In all cases, it is America that leads the way ...
Conclusion:
In 2002 the United States and in France in 2003, David Rockefeller's brother Nelson, has published his memoirs. In Chapter 27, the founder of the Trilateral Commission we made this confession spectacular "for over a century, ideological extremists on both sides of the political grab the much talked about incidents in the newspapers, such as my encounter with Castro to blame the Rockefeller family, the inordinate influence they claim we have on the political and economic institutions of the United States. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the interests of major U.S. and they represent my family and me as "internationalists" and they are going to pretend that we conspire with other capitalists in the world to build a political structure and more integrated global economy - one world, if you want. If this is what I am accused, I plead guilty and I'm proud " [2] . The old banker was able to better express the purpose of Transatlanticism promoted by his brother, and the role of the Rockefeller dynasty in the new world order. The transatlantic union to be completed in 2015, the 2010s may be decisive for the future of the world.
